Get in Touch

This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, free a person, post bond, or pull an official booking or release record.

Official Records and Custody Contacts

The office to contact depends on which agency held the person and what must be confirmed. Cottonwood County Jail and Sheriff records share the Law Enforcement Center location. Ordinary office hours apply to records work even though dispatch operates at all times.

Use the route that matches the record or status question:

  • For a person released or transferred from Cottonwood County Jail, use the home page to identify the exact Sheriff release fields and request path.
  • For misdemeanor or gross-misdemeanor probation, call Cottonwood County Probation at 507-831-2678 during its Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. hours. Felony supervision routes through the DOC office at 940 4th Avenue, Suite A, Windom, with an administrative line at 507-407-3000. The Post-Release Supervision guide explains the split.
  • For recent county custody changes, use the 24-Hour Releases process. Cottonwood County does not publish a true 24-hour release feed, so direct Sheriff confirmation remains necessary.
  • For a possible date or notification, compare the Release Date Lookup with the VINE Inmate Check. Minnesota VINE serves county jail records, while HAVEN serves MNDOC prison notifications.
  • For the local facility itself, contact Cottonwood County Jail at the Sheriff address and number above or consult its facility page in the footer.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, search the MNDOC Public Viewer first, then ask MNDOC Central Records for historical records or a person no longer shown.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. Those systems do not cover an ordinary Cottonwood County Jail record.
